GBCPL celebrates National Library Card Sign-Up Month
9/2/2025

September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and the Greenville-Butler County Public Library is celebrating with exciting opportunities for the community. All month long, residents are encouraged to sign up for a library card—or rediscover the benefits of the one they already have.

To make it even easier for everyone to enjoy all the resources their library has to offer, the Greenville-Butler County Public Library is offering fine forgiveness throughout September. All overdue fines will be waived, and the $5 replacement fee for lost or misplaced library cards will also be waived.

Families will find even more reasons to celebrate as children who stop by the library in September will receive a special gift bag, available while supplies last.

“Your library card is one of the most valuable tools you can have,” said Kevin Pearcey, GBCPL Director. “It opens the door to so many incredible resources—books, digital collections, educational programs, and more—right here in our community.”

Library cards at GBCPL are free for all residents of Butler County and provide access not only to a wide range of books and media but also to digital resources and online learning tools.

The Greenville-Butler County Public Library invites everyone to stop by during September to sign up for a card, replace a lost one, or clear overdue fines—and to celebrate the joy of reading and lifelong learning.
