Presentation: Treasures of 1800s Alabama @ 5:30 p.m.

The library will welcome Alabama historian Jim Phillips on Tuesday, May 14 @ 5:30 p.m. for a presentation: "Lost, and Some Found: Treasures of 1800s Alabama." This presentation will look at such true discovered Alabama treasures as the “Tuscaloosa Hoard” of some 276 pre-Civil War gold and silver coins that were accidentally dug in the 1990s by an ex-Crimson Tide football player digging post holes on his property just out of Tuscaloosa. Phillips is a treasure hunter, collector, appraiser, and enthusiastic storyteller, with a Master of Arts degree in Educational Media from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, graduate studies in motion picture production from San Diego State and a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast communications from the University of Alabama.
